Silver Doilies

Paper Doilies can easily turn a dull table setting into a spectacular, elegant table décor. Use larger doilies such as the 12’’ or 10’’ White Normandy Lace Doilies under plates to dress up your dinnerware. Also, match them with smaller size, 4″ lace paper doilies with the same pattern and use them as coasters under stemware and between cups or saucers. When shopping online at the TheRoyalStore.com, you can choose from several sizes, styles and colors of doilies and placemats – starting from 4’’ to 18’’ in diameter, in elegant styles like French Style Doilies, Medallion Lace Paper Doilies or Normandy Lace Doilies. They also come in assorted colors and shapes – white, gold, silver and red, round, heart shaped and shamrock. One use that is very practical is placing lace doilies between plates that you want to store so that you can prevent scratches. Anti-Fog Transparent Plastic Face Mask

During Sunday night’s All-Star Game, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant suffered a broken nose and a concussion thanks to hard foul from Miami’s Dwyane Wade. Bryant, though, was back on the court on Wednesday, his injured schnozz covered by a plastic face mask. In 2005, Brendan Koerner celebrated the inventor of the protective basketball mask, a little-known orthotist named Gerald McHale who helped players like Chris Webber and a high-school-aged Bryant play through facial injuries. The original piece is reprinted below. You don’t have to be Wilt Chamberlain to get into the Basketball Hall of Fame. If you don’t have a sweet turnaround jumper from 18 feet, the best route to the Hall is fatherhood. Daniel Biasone, aka the “father of the 24-second clock,” made the cut. So did Ferenc Hepp, the “father of basketball in Hungary,” and Chuck Taylor, the father of Converse All Stars. But there is one very deserving father whom the hall has thus far neglected to enshrine: Gerald McHale, the man […]

Transparent Plastic Face Mask

Hypertrophic scars caused by facial burns can have a detrimental effect on patient’s mental well-being. The cornerstone in treating hypertrophic scars in the face consists of exerting mechanical pressure. Early treatment options consisted of hoods that were made of elastic fiber. However, due to the irregular shape of the face, the amount of pressure they delivered was often insufficient, especially over concave sites of the face. In the 1980s, rigid transparent plastic face masks were introduced and they have become a widely accepted treatment method for hypertrophic facial scars.1–4 Although pressure therapy is widely used and accepted as the standard conservative therapy for treating hypertrophic facial scars, the exact working mechanism is not yet elucidated. Meanwhile, varying fabrication methods and different types of facial orthoses have been described.5,6 The conventional method of fabricating a custom transparent face mask requires an experienced orthotist/prosthetist. The fab […]
